Little Cow Co is about four friends coming together to do something we believe in. While Lesley and Travis are focusing on hand-pouring the best-smelling candles out there, Seda and Ben are establishing Little Cow Co as a business that’s built to give back.

5% of all profits are donated to the Williams Syndrome Association.

In 2022, when Travis returned home from a deployment, Lesley picked him up from the Portland airport and they headed straight for the Oregon Coast. For over a decade they had been talking with a couple of close friends about starting a candle company together. They just hadn’t made it happen yet.

As they were driving down the coast, they began pulling into gift shops and asking the owners: “Is there a candle that you’d like to put on your shelves but can’t find out there?” The owners said: “Yes! We want a simple, all natural candle with a real local ingredient in it.”

If you’ve ever cruised the Oregon Coast, you know there’s cows everywhere. Travis spent part of his childhood living in an apartment that backed up to a dairy farm and has always had a soft spot for the beasts – especially the little ones.

As they made their way down the Pacific, they pulled into a small dairy farm. They were eating some hearty ice cream and walking along the cattle fields when one of them spouted out: “You think if we mixed some butter into our candles, they might smell as good as it does when we’re cooking…?”

The experiment began in earnest.

Hundreds of sputtering wicks later, they found something. A homemade blend of 100% natural soy wax and organic butter that melts and burns beautifully.

When you begin baking a cake with butter, the whole kitchen smells good. When that butter heats up, it can really float some scent around. It brings out the goodness. Little Cow Co. brings that goodness to candles.

Little Cow Co. is a premium candle company based in Portland, Oregon.
